Manufacturing Zone
Pure Herbs
At LDD Bioscience, we ensure that the herbs used in manufacturing are harvested by our own cultivators at their peak season. Unlike many manufacturers, we possess detailed knowledge of the chemical composition of each herb, which is typically unavailable in HPI and other literature. This knowledge is essential for determining:
The minimum active ingredient content.
The potential for contamination.
- Macroscopic & Microscopic Examination: Qualified botanists and microbiologists perform thorough physical and morphological examinations to ensure quality before further testing.
- Chemical Examination: Testing is conducted to verify the presence of essential phytochemicals, including alkaloids and flavonoids, which are critical for therapeutic effects. A chemical indicator is added to the herb extract, producing a specific color that confirms its identity.
- Colorimeter Test: Each herb produces a unique color when analyzed under a tristimulus absorption filter, making the colorimeter an optimal tool for quality inspection.
- UV Spectrophotometer Test: This analysis determines the absorbency of light at specific wavelengths, providing insights into the herb’s optical rotation and concentration.
- Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC): LDD is one of the few companies with HPTLC monographs, an invaluable tool for assessing active ingredients. This rapid method allows for qualitative and quantitative analysis of phytochemicals, enabling accurate comparisons of herbs from different sources.
- Infrared Moisture Analyzer: To maintain the right balance of moisture and menstruum, we use an electronic infrared moisture analyzer to determine the optimal percentage of alcohol needed for extracting therapeutic phytochemicals.
- Karl Fischer Instrument: This instrument is employed for precise moisture determination, particularly when assessing volatile substances.
- Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA): We utilize grain-based ENA, the purest form of alcohol, known for its stringent quality. This contrasts with the rectified spirit commonly used by other manufacturers. ENA meets higher standards than the ‘strong alcohol’ recommended by HPI, being free from alkalinity, ethanol, and higher alcohols. It also undergoes rigorous testing for impurities, ensuring superior quality.
- De-mineralized Water: The water used in our products is treated to the highest standards through a multi-step process:
- Contaminated tap water undergoes reverse osmosis to reduce hardness.
- Chlorination prevents the growth of bacteria like E. coli, followed by chlorine adsorption to eliminate residual chlorine.
- Demineralization removes dissolved minerals that may interfere with other compounds.
- UV sterilization ensures any remaining contamination is eradicated.
- Conductivity tests are conducted post-processing to check for ion presence, along with additional bacterial testing.
- Lactose: Lactose constitutes 92% to 96% of our homeopathic tablets, making it crucial to use high-quality lactose. We exclusively use HMS lactose, imported from Holland, known for its superior quality and extended shelf life. The lactose melts at body temperature for quick dissolution, facilitating rapid action. Our quality control process includes testing lactose with a polarimeter to ensure compliance with I.P. standards. We prioritize freshness by using the entire content of a lactose bag immediately after opening.
- Liquid Orals: Currently, we manufacture over 11 syrup-based products in our liquid oral segment, adhering to stringent hygiene standards in compliance with Schedule M-1 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of India.
